Hateful Content and Extremism

Tapnudge is for human feedback, not dehumanization, hate, extremist praise, or attacks on protected groups.

What this means for nudges

People can disagree strongly on Tapnudge, but nudges cannot be used to invite hatred, discrimination, or violence toward protected groups.

Not allowed

  • Hate speech, slurs, dehumanizing comparisons, or calls to exclude or harm protected groups.
  • Nudges that ask users to rank the worth, safety, intelligence, humanity, or rights of protected groups.
  • Praise, support, recruitment, propaganda, symbols, or fundraising for terrorist, violent extremist, or hate organizations.
  • Content encouraging discrimination based on race, color, caste, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, immigration status, veteran status, or similar protected traits.

Allowed with care

  • Good-faith discussion of public policy, history, or current events if it does not attack protected people or encourage harm.
  • Counterspeech or criticism of hateful behavior when it is clearly framed against hate.

Enforcement

Hateful or extremist content may be removed, restricted, or escalated depending on severity, context, and risk of real-world harm.
